Procurement

Overview

The goods and services that we, as a University procure, are responsible for approximately 50% of our total carbon footprint. As a major local business within the Higher Education sector, our university's decisions should be endeavouring to embed positive social, economic and environmental impacts throughout the supply chain.

Initiative Details

For Staff:

As a major local business within the Higher Education sector, our university's decisions should be endeavouring to embed social, economic and environmental impacts throughout the supply chain.

To support our ambition, we have signed up to NETpositive's Supplier Tool to encourage and enable our suppliers to create bespoke sustainability action plans.

From 3rd October 2016, for all our tender opportunities, whether for works, goods or services, we would like to ask everyone with responsibility for procuring goods or services to communicate the following message (below section for suppliers) when engaging with suppliers, e.g. during conversations, when obtaining quotes or at supplier meetings.

For Suppliers:

As a major local  business within the Higher Education sector, the University of Chester is committed to being sustainably efficient in our use of energy and resources.

To ensure a more sustainable future and to embed positive social, economic and environmental impacts throughout the supply chain, we have invested in NETpositive's Supplier Tool and are asking all our suppliers to support our ambition, by creating their very own FREE bespoke sustainability action plans.

As we already collaborate wtih other universities nationally, suppliers will only need to sign up once, to be able to share their information with all member institutions.

Please sign up, (if not already), by clicking here and follow the instructions to create a new log-in.
